Institute

History

                 The institute was established in the year 1962 to meet the emerging need of skilled technicians at diploma level.It was felt by the state government to start the institute with three core branches viz. Civil, Mechanical and Electrical respectively. The Institute commenced its journey from the premises of Multi-Purpose school, near Kachahari Chowk ,Durg, Mr. M. A. Quereshi was the founder Principal.He felt the growing need of technicians in Bhilai Steel Plant.The Metallurgy Branch was introduced in the year 1964. Within a short period of 2 years ,the Institute shifted to its own premises in the year 1964. It was constructed well-planned with a vast campus spreading over 40 acres of land amidst the heart of the city. With the passage of time more courses were added in the curriculum such as Modern Office Management (earlier known as Commercial Practice) in 1976, Electronics & Tele-communication in the year 1981 and Computer Science as well as Information Technology in the year 2000. Need was also felt for Part Time Diploma Course for the working personnel in the neighboring industries which laid to start Part Time Diploma Course in the year 1984,including Civil, Mechanical and Electrical respectively.

              The institute is in the prime location on G.E. Road ,38 Km away from Raipur, the capital of Chhattisgarh state. It is easily approachable from Mumbai- Kolkata Railway line. The famous Bhilai Steel Plant, Bhilai is just at a short distance of 15 minutes from the institute. The campus has its own academic block, separate hostels for boys and girls as well as residences for staff too.

Affiliation

                     The diploma courses of the Institute are recognized by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). It is also an "institutional member" of Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE) New-Delhi. Presently, this institute is affiliated to the Chhattisgarh Swami Vivekananda Technical University (CSVTU), Bhilai. The institute enjoys strong relationship with Bhilai Steel Plant and ancillary industries around Bhilai-Durg. 

Social Services 

                     The institute is firmly committed to its responsibility towards the society. Presently two key-projects namely "Community Development through Polytechnic (CDTP)" and "Scheme for persons with disability (PWD)" are conducted under the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India, with a view to act as a focal point of development for rural Community and PWD (persons with disability) to generate self-reliance to these under privileged and un-employed rural youth.
